We have an exciting opportunity for two understanding and creative *male colleagues with a positive attitude to join our new service supporting a young man as Support Practitioners on a permanent basis. We have a full-time (39hr) contract and part-time (16hr) contract available.
You don't need experience in care to start your career with us; we recruit on values and transferrable skills. We’ll give you all the training you need to be an amazing Support Practitioner including a fully funded SVQ.
The Role:
This is a 1:1 service supporting a young man with psychosis and schizophrenia who is moving into her first home. It's an exciting time for the young man and we’ll be looking to you to help support him learn life skills, including cooking and looking after his home along with exploring new hobbies and integrating with his local community.
As a Support Practitioner, you’ll play a key role in assisting with daily living tasks including meal preparation, medication management, attending appointments and activities, handling personal finances and prompts with personal care. As well as practical support, you’ll also offer emotional guidance, support with addictions and help the young man maintain meaningful relationships with his family and friends, empowering him to thrive in his own home and community.
You will support on an outcome-based programme which will see the young man grow in confidence and learn life skills to increase their independence. You’ll take an active interest in their hobbies with include going out for walks and to their social clubs and going on outings. With your help, you’ll enable him to explore new opportunities and reduce his social isolation.
